Workout as an act of WORSHIP…
Today is a very special #WellnessWednesday! It is #AshWednesday and we kick off the Lent Season. It is a time where Christians all around the world prepare to sacrifice. Most people will give up some type of favorite food or other pleasurable thing.
What if this year you decided to give up being inconsistent with your workouts? What if you made this the time where you honored God by thanking Him for the activity of your limbs and make the choice to be more active? Think about it…forty days of being active in some form. How different would your life look come April 4th? Could you experience a personal resurrection in your health?
This idea may be far fetched for some, but if you really think about it is not. In Romans 12:1 we are given these instructions, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” We have the honor of sacrificing daily as a way to care for the bodies we have been given.
Many people like to separate our physical well-being from our spiritual well-being. However, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 reminds us that the two are very much connected. Check this out, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” Wow, so our body is the home in which the Holy Spirit lives! Well, since that is the case, let’s build an amazing home for the Holy Spirit to dwell in.
During this season of #fasting and #prayer seek God on ways that you can improve both your #spiritualwellness and #physicalwellness. We need to be physically fit and healthy to carry out the spiritual assignments that we are given. Let this year be the year that changes the trajectory of your spiritual health AND physical health.
Change the way you think about your workouts, and begin to view them as an act of worship unto God. Be just as committed to your workouts as you are to prayer and attending church.
